"The closing hole is another magnificent example of Abercromby's work. From a tee by the granite wall, which encircles the estate, the drive is blind over bracken and a marker post. You need a helpful kick off the brow of the hill some 230 yards away to find the best and shortest route into the green. With a pond cutting in front right and two bunkers left, the approach demands a great mid iron to find and hold the putting surface, which slopes away from you and towards the clubhouse and out of bounds. Once safely on the green, all that's left is holing out in front of all those watching from the bar."
